Hydro opened its Inflow capital vaults on the Cosmos Hub at the end of June 2026, releasing v3.6.12 of its codebase on June 24 and accepting deposits in ATOM, bitcoin, and stablecoins. The vaults route depositor capital toward external protocols bidding for Hub-governed liquidity, placing a capital-allocation layer directly on the Hub rather than on a peripheral app-chain.
The mechanism
Depositors lock assets to earn voting power and cast it on liquidity bids submitted by outside protocols; winning protocols receive Protocol-Owned Liquidity deployments and stakers collect "tribute" payments in return. Lock windows of one day, 24 days, and 90 days are planned, with longer locks earning higher yields, per High Stakes Switzerland's June 22 write-up, though none of the three tiers were confirmed live as of the v3.6.12 release. Hydro has already routed millions of ATOM across more than 20 Cosmos-based protocols through its prior contracts.
Yield and fees
Native ATOM staking rewards run near 17% annually and Hydro's liquid staking token is designed to charge 0% in protocol fees versus roughly 10% for stATOM and dATOM. A December 2025 forum post from Hydro contributor Thyborg modeled one internal strategy, LST redemption arbitrage, at 28-35% APY under then-current conditions; Hydro has not published a blended vault target rate.
Community vote rejected; liquidity auctions have no confirmed date
A parallel move to seed the vaults with community funds failed in early 2026. Cosmos Hub Proposal #1022, which sought to transfer 7 million ATOM from the community pool directly into Hydro's Inflow vault, was rejected with 58.22% of staked ATOM voting no and 10.63% in favor. Cosmostation, a major Hub validator, voted no, publicly arguing that routing community pool funds continuously into DeFi makes it difficult to enforce accountability or execute clawbacks. The vaults run on voluntary depositor capital. Liquidity auctions, the competitive-bid phase where protocols compete for Hub-governed deployments, are planned next; no confirmed start date has been announced.
